On a day where you’re searching for powder, check out these tried-and-true reliable powder stashes.
Peak 6
If you’re taking the gondola up from the parking lot, you’ll want to get off at the Peak 6 stop which is right before the main Peak 8 stop. While the Kenosha SuperChair, which serves Peak 6, can be crowded on powder days, it’s well worth it.Take a skier’s right off the chair and try to find your way between Xanadu and Lost Cabin. Because these two slopes are between two lifts, it’s usually filled with untouched powder.
Peak 7
When it comes to powder stashes, Peak 7 is a mecca and a local’s favorite. Take Independence SuperChair to Ore Bucket, which is one of Breckenridge’s best-kept secrets. Drop in at Ore Bucket to find some great trees and end the run back on Monte Cristo or Wanderlust.You can also head toward Claimjumper for some trees that others miss as they make their way toward the t-bar.
Finally, if you’re just getting your feet under you in the trees, you shouldn’t miss Swan City.
E-Chair
The E-Chair off Peak 8 is a slow, two-person lift, but it comes with some of the most challenging and rewarding terrain on the mountain.Check out the Windows area which is signified by a gate under the lift. This area is marked as a double black for a reason, but it has unparalleled trees if you’re up for the challenge.
Peak 10
Off Peak 10, you can find The Burn. Also a gated run, make sure you’re ready for some tight and steep trees before you enter through the gates. If you’re up for it, The Burn is a Breckenridge classic with tight, steep trees.
