Don't miss the abundance of festivities going on this year for the 4th of July in Breckenridge Colorado. The whole family, the crew of friends, or the leisurely couple will enjoy the scenic backdrop of 14,000 foot mountains with a lively town in true patriotic celebrations.
Starting at 7:00 a.m. is the Independence Day 10K Trail Run. It is a scenic 10k trail running race that provide some of the best views, while finishing just in time to catch the Main Street parade and other festivities.
The Firecracker 50 Mountain Bike Race kicks off at 9:30 a.m. This mountain bike race launches the Breckenridge 4th of July Parade in front of thousands of spectators. Come cheer on riders as they embark on a 50-mile journey on the beautiful trails in and surrounding the Breckenridge area. The Race starts with on Mainstreet at 9:30 a.m.
If running and biking are not quite the forte for the day, be sure to check out the Annual Breckenridge 4th of July Garden Party. Located at the Barney Ford House Museum. The official parade will start at 10am with the Red, White and Blue Color Guard. Firecracker 50 Mountain Bike Race will lead off the parade at 9:30am & it will take 800+ riders ½ hour to get down Main Streets in waves. Reading of the Declaration of Independence by George Washington (C.J. Muller) – Following the parade in the Blue River Plaza.
The Prowler Car Show and Shine on Adams Ave following the parade around 12 p.m. and wraps up around noon.
From Noon to 6:00 p.m. is the Street Arts Festival, which is a celebration of street, pavement and graffiti arts that will feature a weekend of 3D murals, chalk drawings, live music and hands-on workshops at the Breckenridge Arts District campus. This year, the must-see attraction is the Barder Boat on the East patio of the Old Masonic Hall.
From 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Kids’ can join the Red, White & Blue Fire Dept. in an old-time water fight on Main Street. Free for kids to participate and is a huge hit every year. Farview horse rescue offers free pony ride from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Main Street in front of Blue River Plaza.
Kick up your feet and enjoy a free concert at the River Walk Center by Groovin Motion, starting at 2:00 p.m. and ending around 4:00 p.m. At 8:00 p.m. kicks off a 20 year tradition where the Town of Breckenridge and National Repertory Orchestra (NRO) have collaborated to present a Patriotic Concert every 4th of July at the Riverwalk Center.
