October Snow in Breckenridge

With 10 inches of fresh snow this week, Breckenridge is celebrating the appearance of October snow as the resort opens in less than 30 days.  ‘Tis the season to hope for natural snow and colder temperatures as the resort prepares for opening day on November 8^th.  Ski and Snowboard enthusiasts are starting to get excited with the anticipation of winter.  Other resorts in the nearby vicinity are opening this weekend, allowing for the presence of ski season in the Breckenridge/Summit County area. 

We can close the chapter on summer, yet still embrace the beauty of fall and a wintery mix over the next few weeks.  Sunny days mixed in with fall storms, as well as the gentle chill in the air has us embracing the in-between season of summer and winter.  The town of Breckenridge hosts an array of local shops and restaurants.  Many off season specials can be had, making fall a great time to plan a weekend getaway to the mountains.  The bike path is ridable to connect Breckenridge to Frisco to Summit County.  Views of beautiful Lake Dillon can be had along the way.

As the next few weeks will quickly yet quaintly fly by, start planning upcoming visits to your favorite mountain town of Breckenridge, Colorado.  The winter will be better than ever with the new Peak 8 Base area that has a new ski facility, upgraded snow making equipment and an earlier scheduled ULLR Fest. 

Put November 8^th on your calendar for opening day and then December 11-15 on your list for the Ullr Fest.  Breckenridge invites snow lovers of all ages to join the party.  There will be lots of horned Viking hats on the heads of skiers and snowboarders, as well as more than 12,000 Ullr enthusiasts on the streets to watch the Ullr Parade.  Watch the crazy float participants ski off jumps on Main Street and the biggest bonfire around.
