It's A Powder Weekend In Breck!

March 4, 2019
If you’re headed to Breckenridge this weekend or upcoming week, you’re in for a treat. The mountain got absolutely dumped on over the weekend, with 29 inches of snow falling from Friday through Sunday.

This most-recent Colorado storm brings Breckenridge’s snow depth up to 85 inches at both the summit and base. One-hundred percent of the terrain is open as well, with 187/187 trails accessible. Compared to this time last season, Breckenridge is an entirely different universe.

This early March storm is projected to drop even more snow in the area, with 15 inches anticipated for the next five days.

Beating Lift Lines On A Powder Day

While there’s nothing better than a powder day at Breckenridge, there’s also nothing more crowded. If you get stuck at the base of Peak 8, for instance, it might be an hour or so before you even get your first turns in.

The best thing you can do to have an unforgettable Breckenridge powder day is to get there early. Get up the gondola and park before the I-70 crowds roll in. Then, if you’re hoping to ski the mountain’s most advanced and celebrated terrain, head up Peak 8 toward the t-bar and the Imperial Express chair.

You could also get off the gondola at an earlier stop and opt for Peak 6 terrain. While there will probably be crowds everywhere, you can least hope to get fresh tracks along the Peak 6 bowls and hike-to terrain.

Consider Peak 10

If the lines are really bad and Peak 6 and Peak 8 are both unmanageable, head toward Peak 10. Here, you’ll find some of the most underrated terrain on the mountain. To ski a steep and deep tree run, The Burn is a gated-entry trail that lives up to the name.

You could also try your hand at Peak 9 and the E chair. Assuming the higher bowls are open, these areas might be less crowded than Peak 8 and Peak 6.

Enjoy these spectacular ski conditions in Summit County this weekend, and expect the ski season to last throughout the spring months!
