Epic Pass - 3rd best innovation in skiing in the past 60 years

November 21, 2016

I received a phone call in the spring of 2008 with news that I didn't believe.

"Did you hear that Vail Resorts had a new season pass for Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone and Arapahoe Basin for only a few hundred dollars - less than half the price of a previous season pass to Vail?"

I rushed to the office, checked online - the Epic Pass was real.  I purchased my Epic Pass right away, and have had one every year.  Vail Resort's goal was to get as many people to purchase Epic Passes, and get them to come to one of their resorts more than once per year.  There would be no incremental cost for skiing for additional days, or for visits to other destinations where Vail Resorts operates.  Vail Resorts continued to increase the cost of a daily lift ticket - incentivizing people to purchase the Epic Pass.  For the first time ever, the cost of skiing was GOING DOWN!

The Epic Pass is arguably one of the best innovations in skiing in the past 60 years - right up there with safety bindings, high-speed chairlifts, and the neck gator.  It's been so successful, that there are about 500,000 Epic Pass holders around the world.  And every year, Vail Resorts makes it better by adding new destinations, and pricing options.  You can get a full Epic Pass that now includes unlimited skiing at the Colorado destinations of Vail, Beaver Creek, Breckenridge, Keystone, and Arapahoe Basin - plus Park City Resort in Utah, Heavenly Valley, Northstar, Kirkwood in the Lake Tahoe area plus for the first time ever, FIVE days in Whistler, British Columbia - as Vail Resorts just purchased the Whistler Blackcomb.  And if you live in the midwest of the USA - you can enjoy the Mt. Brighton in Michigan, Wilmot in Wisconsin or Afton Alps in Minnesota also on the Epic Pass. And Epic Pass skiing and snowboarding isn't just limited to the winter months - next summer if you're in the mood to hit the slopes, head down under to Perisher in Australia, also set to be included in the Epic Pass for summer of 2017.

There are also Epic Passes for lower prices with fewer benefits, including the 4-Day Epic Pass that gives you the best lift ticket prices of the season.

You can purchase your Epic Pass here for the lowest price available right here - but there are only a couple of weeks left to purchase.  Once the ski season starts - the Epic Passes won't be available.
