4 Socially Distanced Activities at Breckenridge

July 8, 2020

Now that Breckenridge is open for the summer, it is time to get out here and have some fun. With the resort being partially open, there are some great activities to take part in to get the most out of your summer vacation!

Fly down the Mountain

Choose from the Alpine Slide or the Goldrunner Coaster to get in your speed on the slopes this summer. The thrilling Goldrunner Coaster is a 2,500ft elevated track that twists and turns through the trees and down the slopes. The Alpine Slide is a 2,600ft track that is built into the ground. There are 3 different tracks to choose from, all of them have you speeding through berms and straightaways.

Goldrunner Coaster

  • Single Ride (54" or taller) | $28
  • Single Ride Passenger (38" - 53") | $14

The Apline Slide

  • Single Ride (48" or taller) | $28
  • Single Ride Passenger (35" - 47") | $14

Hiking

Horeshoe Bowl

Explore the Horse Shoe bowl from the top of the Colorado Superchair. Grab yourself a scenic lift ticket and head up to Alpine Camp to the start of this hike. This loop can be extended to add more miles or a smaller loop can be made that is around 1 mile long. All sections of this hike are above tree line and the views are absolutely breathtaking.

Mohawk Lakes

Outside of town you will find this popular hike to multiple high alpine lakes. Travel though forest and pop out above tree line where upper Mohwak Lake sits directly below stunning jagged mountains. This trail is around 4.3 miles round trip and is rated as moderate. This is a hike I try to get in once a year, it is perfect for a quick half day trip.

Horseback riding

What better way to explore the mountains and socially distance than from the back of a horse! Breck Stables offers trail rides to all ages and abilities, 7 days a week. Each ride is 1.5 hours long and you will get to explore the areas between Peak 9 and 10. Rides leave the barn between the hours of 8:30 am and 3:30pm with the exception of noon. Grab the family and head out for a scenic ride.

Golfing

Colorado is home to some of the most beautiful courses in the country. Even if you are not a great golfer, being out on these courses are enough to bring you joy. Keystone Resort, located about 20 minutes away is home to two amazing courses; The River Course and Keystone Ranch. Each course has its own unique style but golfers of all abilities will be challenged with elevation changes, water hazards and a course that winds through lodgepole pines and meadows. These two courses are the perfect way to spend a weekend out in the mountains.
